The Historic Archive of the diocese of Como was established by Bishop Alessandro Maggiolini, with the decree of 19 January 1991, and opened to the public on the same date.
Up until January 2003 the Archive was located at the Bishop’s Palace, in Piazza Grimoldi. Following the creation of the Centro Studi "Nicolò Rusca", it was transferred to its current headquarters inside the building of the diocesan seminary, on Via Baserga.
