The Study Centre is made up of the Historic Archive of the Diocese of Como and the Diocesan Seminary Library of Como, joined together in one location, granted in commodatum to Fondazione – Centro Studi "Nicolò Rusca". An integral part of the Study Centre is the 'Ufficio di Inventariazione dei Beni Culturali' (Cultural Heritage Inventory Office) of the Diocese of Como.
It is, therefore, structured and organized to guarantee the proper preservation, progressive inventory-taking and cataloguing of the material and the consultation of the same for the public, in accordance with the rules of access and the established hours (see the Regulations).
In addition to a series of deposits that vary based on the material, the Study Centre has a common consultation room, with open shelves, which provides the public with:
the inventories of the Diocesan Archive, the archive funds possessed by the Seminary Library and other archives both ecclesiastical and not, located in or related to the territory of the diocese;
local history publications and periodicals;
study and research tools on historic-theological subjects (bibliographies, collections of sources, dictionaries and encyclopaedias, and general works).
An auditorium seating 150, a technologically-equipped conference room seating 90, and an exhibition space offering the possibility of organizing periodic initiatives to sensitize and provide deeper knowledge, such as exhibitions, guided visits, training courses, days of study on themes related to the Church of Como and to historic documentation and local books.
